this idea has been mentioned before but its very fun and could be taken in many directions!
a fungi growing farm addition that produces the many types of fungi in the game (at least 6 off the top of my head). this doesnt need to conflict with garys crushroom as this serves more functions than just producing 'mushroom'.
potential upgrades
- unlocking the different fungi (maybe new fungi for cooking)
- fertiliser collector to produce fertiliser for crops or trees
- ant farmers to serve as an automation mechanic (could maybe incorporate the fire ant farm craftable in this upgrade)
- fungi research which could open up a pathway for item upgrades functions in the game. nets catch +1, cooking pots give extra xp etc. alternatively it could produce medicine which opens up various larger game mechanics like sick animals, sick townsfolk, questlines etc
a fungi farm could also introduce an item disposal mechanic by allowing players to send decomposable items to the farm instead of voiding them and receive a fungi production boost.
it might be useful if a requirement for unlocking a type of fungi is to already have one to propagate the same as in real life. that way players would be prevented from obtaining items originally intended to be sourced at a certain point in gameplay.
i think this addition would play well into the recent mining feature on account of the widespread use of mushroom paste and other fungi in the crafting of pickaxes.
