Could add copper, silver, gold ores to mining. Then add a smelter production building to use coal, emberstone and an ore(can only produce one type at a time) to produce corresponding metal bars. Then bars can be used to craft various things(like copper wire, gold/silver ring, gold/silver necklaces)
