So, this idea comes to me with the idea of what was created in FRPG. FRPG has a tower system that you can unlock some good bonuses and benefits by mastering items when creating them. It also takes the games currency, Silver.

Originally, TC was supposed to have a skill tree system that became FRPG essentially. But We could have a skill tree on TC that acted in the same capacity as FRPG but instead of using Ascension Knowledge, It would use the Zeus shards and two new types of shards.

This could give a use for Zeus shards that have been stacked for years that have no real benefit and two new types of shards called Kratos shards and Titan shards. Titan shards could be used to unlock on the skill tree from levels 1-100 and you can make a new kind of shard called the Zeus shard which could do for say 101-200 and then Kratos shards for levels 201-300 which would give new players a little more of a boost and also give the GT players a reason to fight Kratos for more than just the card and GT.

It could also be a great use for Drachma which after a while almost becomes useless other than making new hero's and going for Triumphs.
Instead of it working exactly like the tower however, it could be that you unlock the base and then you choose the skills you want to enhance. Something like this.

Once you unlock Attack bonuses, you can upgrade it 5 times before unlocking Attack bonuses II.
Once you unlock Def bonuses, you can upgrade it 5 times before unlocking Def bonuses II

At some point of it, you would have to have Kratos shards in order to unlock after maybe Def bonus III.
