It would be like a tamagotchi pet you need to make food and feed it wash it take it on walks and stuff

This is a cool idea, maybe they could create one for each of the Townsfolks. Which would include a new set of quests to obtain. This would also help in the leveling of Townsfolks and then to have a pet as well. How much fun this would be!
