Bonuses where growing crops together would increase the output of both. There are multiple plants that are grown together since they work off of each other to make pollination easier, improve yield, lower pest quantity, and many others. This article is extremely interesting:

One of the examples is "The three sisters":
Corn provides a natural trellis for beans, beans fix nitrogen into the soil, and squash acts as a living mulch to suppress weeds.

Tomato and Lettuce:
Lettuce thrives in the shade of taller tomato plants, which can also help reduce bolting in hot weather.

Also Crop rotation is a vital part of farming all over the world, where growing only one plant can drain the nutrients of the soil, but rotating will allow the soil to regain those nutrients. I think that these changes/additions can add a lot diversity into planting and crop growing. Having to think about if you want to max corn but make the next corn planting less efficient or sacrifice 3 rows of corn to grow beans/squash to improve the grow time of both. I think there are multiple things that can be done in addition for perks; pre-set farming patterns where you can save a pattern and have them as an option for plant all.
