Very cool new minigame!
Here are a few of my suggestions on Mining, after just unlocking beta and playing for 30 mins:
1. Just like singleplayer battleships, it would be neat to show what length items are hidden (or maybe just the icons and when you hover over them, you see the pattern in which they are hidden (not rotation wise, just which shape it takes), this leads to less missed floors and better playability. With this addition, maybe also add an option to refresh the floor if you don't like the items hidden this time.
2. If the floor has failed, show where the remaining items were, so the player can see what/where they missed and maybe adjust their strategy.
3. Have the floor be further explored/emptied after all the key items have been found. Or improve the benefit of finishing a floor with more attempts left. maybe the next floor attempt counter is upped, or some tiles are already revealed, or an explosive is activated for free or maybe some another bonus
4. Add a bonus exp or bonus item when you fully explore a floor. (or make that a merit badge even)
5. Add bombs as a bonus tile ("you found x bombs") ( or another way to find bombs without trading)
3 and 4 may seem contradictory to each other, but I guess that could be a risk/reward option for the player to choose.
I'd be totally fine with (some of) these ideas becoming available as perk instead of base game.
I'm curious to know your thoughts on these ideas
